CIRCULAR THREADS 2.0

Innovation and sustainability in the world of textile and fashion

Circular Threads 2.0 was conceived to give continuity to the study carried out by Tondo in collaboration with Fondazione Pistoletto, Associazione Tessile e Salute and rén collective for the realisation of the Circular Threads (2021) report. The study analysed the level of sustainability and circularity of textile and fashion companies in northern Italy and, in particular, in the Biella district, a pole of excellence and reference for the Italian textile sector.

The initiative is aimed at textile companies in Lombardy and local stakeholders to promote circularity through awareness, sustainable business culture, innovative practices and collaborations, aiming at concrete capacity-building results.

The event

The event will consist of a one-day meeting open to the public, structured in different moments to provide participants with an overview of sustainability in the Lombardy and Milanese textile and specialised districts and, at the same time, the tools to enhance circularity in the whole sector.

The profile of the day will be multidimensional, consisting of both an awareness-raising component and a more pronounced capacity-building one: the concept guiding the development and realisation of the appointment is that of providing concrete tools to act with a view to greater circularity in the Italian textile sector, not, therefore, that of being a moment of exclusively top-down presentation, for the sole purpose of disseminating data.

Programme
of the event

The event will take place in Milan, in the setting of the Triennale di Milano, over a full day (30 January 2025), to offer participants a structured and in-depth programme.

The first part of the event will be dedicated to presenting the research on sustainability and circularity in textiles carried out by Tondo, with speeches by the researchers involved, to bring together the world of research and entrepreneurial realities. The themes of recycling technologies, eco-design, and circularity culture will be touched upon, followed by a capacity-building moment dedicated to developing circular business models. The third and final component will be the sharing by some companies involved in studying replicable best practices.
